Aimless and I just received our free 10 pack of Moo.com Minicards. If you haven’t heard about these from the blog-o-sphere bzz, a upstart company called moo, yes as in a cow, came up with a great idea of printing small half-size business cards with high quality prints on one side any any text you want on the other. They teamed up with Flickr so it works seamlessly with photos users have uploaded to there account. You can check out Moo’s simple, effect, yet very cool card creation system in a great blog post by the programers/designers at 37 signals here.

All the pictures are clickable to large version on flickr. The quarter and a standard business card are for size comparison.
The back of the minicard is made up of six lines of text with options for three different types of fonts, three text color choice and bold. There are options to place a small flickr logo and/or include your fickr buddy icon on back of the card to the right of the text. The flickr buddy icon is a great idea so you can place a picture you love on the front that does not include your ugly mug, but still get a face shot on the back so people can remember you. Orders are done in lots of 100 and amazingly you can have a different picture on each of the 100 cards, though the text remains the same. One hundred cards will only set you back $20 bucks with free shipping to anywhere in the US. These are perfect for sharing information and keeping track of people you meet on the trail. They would also make a great keepsake to trail angles and other hiker helps that give you a hand along the way during your travels. I have all ready seen a few hikers passing out business cards to keep in touch at hiker gathers such as ALDHA, these are just BEGGING to be replacements. With my free set I made Amy and I family cards that include both our names, phone numbers, email and address
Just a short list of some things you could put on the back of your cards include:
Trail Name
Real Name
Trail Attempting or Completed with Dates and Direction e.g. Appalachian Trail NB 2006
Phone
Email
Address
Emergency contact information
Description of Picture or Location on the Front of the Minicard
Webpage
Trail Journals Page
Flickr Account Name so People Can Check Out Your Hiking Photos
Another use for would be to make some cards with your mug shot on the front then you could easily tape the small cards next to your address on drop shipments and resupply boxes making them easier to identify and harder to lose. The list cool thinks you can put on and do with these cards is endless. My title is no joke, I would love to have a collection of these beautiful cards of all my hiking and non-hiking friends (though the hikers seem to have better pictures).
Drop me a comment or email if you order some I would love to get some cards from my readers or other bloggers. Aimless and I are moving with in the next few months so I will be placing an order when we get our new address, I am sure I will print out some blog cards to send out to those who want the limited edition, ultra premium, uber rare simplehiker card.
